Within the frame of the first announced grant round for development education in the spring 2004, a project of PMVRO ”Involvement of Slovak MPs and MEPs in Slovak and EU development policy” was approved. Project began in September 2004 and ended in September 2005. Main goal of this project was to engage active involvement of Slovak MPs and MEPs in the agenda of Official Development Assistance of SR.
Project´s target groups:
- Slovak Members of Parliament, especially from Foreign Affairs Commission, Commission for European Affairs, Commission for Economic Policies, Commission for finance, budget and currency and Commission for Human Rights, Nationality and Women Emancipation.
- Slovak MEPs, especially those who work in the commissions connected to the development policies: Commission for development and cooperation, Budget commission, Commission for foreign affairs, human rights, common security and defense politics and Commission for industry, foreign trade, research and energy.
Expected Results: MPs in all commissions received basic information and knowledge about development and humanitarian aid of Slovak Republic and European Union. Slovak MPs from chosen commissions were involved in a round table discussion and during a seminar had the opportunity to exchange experience with their foreign colleagues.
