Characteristics of the organization:

The Spiral was established in June 2001. It is a national network of organizations engaged in environmental education. The Spiral is a nongovernmental, nonprofit organization established as a private interest group. There are currently five full members of the Spiral: Centrum environmentálnych aktivít, Centrum environmentálnej a etickej výchovy Živica, Daphne, Občianske združenie Sosna and Klub Kon-tiki. Since 2004, the Spiral has been a member of the international Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE).


Activities and goals:

The Spiral represents the interests of its members in relations with the public sector, partner organizations, foundations, sponsors and donors. It encourages mutual exchange of experience and knowledge related to environmental education. Further task of the Spiral is to circulate information among its members and provide information to wider public audience. Additionally, it helps improve the quality of education programs run by its members and implements education programs FEE, guaranteeing their international standard. 
To achieve these goals, the Spiral provides advisory and consultative services in the area of environmental education and management of nonprofit organizations. Amongst other things, the Spiral organizes educational events, seminars and field trips and provides information to the public through regular publications. The Spiral also actively participates in preparation of legal norms related to its activities.
The Spiral successfully organizes Eco-Schools program and in 2009/2010 launched a new program called Young Reporters for the Environment.
