Description: SAVIO is a civic organization which was founded in 2005 to support development and humanitarian projects. It focuses primarily on helping children and young people in less developed countries and regions. So far, SAVIO helped in Angola, Kenya, Sudan, Azerbaijan, Siberia, Ukraine. The goal of the organization is also to acquaint Slovak citizens with the problems of poor countries, building a sense of shared responsibility and solidarity with the fate of others.
Activities and Projects:
Brick for Africa: Brick or Small brick is a Slovak public collection organized by SAVIO in the time before Easter. It´s goal is to inform and educate people about life in less developed countries and regions of the world, form and lead people to the sense of shared responsibility and shared reliability. The earnings are used in favour of development projects in needy countries and poorer regions in the world.
Adoption of the classrooms – Sudan This project aims to facilitate mutual understanding of young people in Slovakia and Sudan, as well as that the relationship anonymous donor - the donee could go into the stage of friendship. The project will also help Slovakia to recognize the life in Sudan and the Sudan to know life in Slovakia.
Adoption of children - Kenya The goal of this project is to help children in less developed countries to obtain knowledge and give them the chance for better future. Furthermore, we try to strengthen the relationship of people towards solving problems to realize the sense of social responsibility
Angola – alphabetization The goal of this project is to create a group of 50 local teachers – alphabetizators, who will after completion of formation be located in 50 centres and will teach the foundations of reading and writing as well as inform people about basics of health prevention.
Azerbaijan – network of educational centres (2008 – 2011) Kenya – carpentry workshop Bosco Boys, Nairobi (2010) The goal of this project is to support education of children and youth in Nairobi. Siberia – Youth centre Aldan (2010) The goal of this project is to support regular activities with children and youth especially from socially disadvantaged families in villages and surroundings of Aldan (Chatystyr, Ugajan, Tommot) within non-formal education and free time activities.
