Page 1 of 3 Fair trade represents a business partnership with an aim to promote sustainable development and ensure decent conditions for the hitherto excluded and disadvantaged producers in third world countries. It represents an effective development cooperation with the countries of the South that guarantees benefit for everyone involved. The principle of such cooperation is based on fair trade relations and an increase consumer awareness of the situation in developing countries.
Producers receive a fair price for produced commodities regardless of world market prices. In this way, people in developing countries have the possibility to make a living and to secure their existence. Moreover, in the questions regarding health and education they can meet the standards of the society.
And food that is tasty and has high quality is getting directly to Europe throughout controlled channels of distribution – with the guarantee of origin.
Principles of Fair Trade:
- Fair prices and statutory minimum wages,
- Industrial minimum compensations,
- Exploitative or child lebour is forbidden,
- Guarantee of origin and controlled flow of goods to Europe,
- Direct trade and long-lasting trade relations,
- Stable and environmentally friendly kind of farming,
- Protection of rain forests, water resources,
- Targeted promotion of natural growing.
