Characteristics and history of development education

As we have mentioned in the Characteristics of development education, development education has appeared as a new phenomenon worldwide and in Slovakia. Its creation stem from the initiative of the non-governmental organizations which felt a need to eliminate the low knowledge about developmental issues, wanted to gain the wide public support and mobilize it to an active involvement. This long-term effort to achieve general support has been reflected in many campaigns for poverty elimination – for example the well-known G-CAP (Global call to action against poverty – more info at http://www.whiteband.org/ alebo http://svetbezchudoby.erko.sk/), whose goal is to strengthen the pressure on government through public so that the government takes a responsible stand to the question of elimination of poverty.
